It’s an embarrassment of riches this month as we enjoy visits from Aunt Maya (see above), Grandpa and Grandma Jane (see below), with Grandma arriving from Pittsburgh tomorrow. All we require of our visitors is a willingness to make goofy faces at our kids, and as these photographs prove, they have thus far been happy to comply. No wonder Cleo (now 2 months old) is smiling and cooing with abandon. Still more evidence is in the latest photo album. (We did pretty well in May too, thanks to Papa and Grandma!)

It was 90 degrees Fahrenheit today and the blasted community pool doesn’t open full-time until the end of the month, so a little backyard improvisation was necessary. The World’s Greatest Dad stepped up bigtime, spending Leda’s naptime purchasing, inflating, and beginning to fill a most excellent pool. Sophia and her sister Olivia joined us for a pooltime playdate, though Leda’s favorite part may have been the filling stage, when Daddy’s garden hose made what Leda calls a “water mountain.” (This is the only known instance of her mistaking an “f” for an “m.”) Exhibit A:
