We rang in the new year with Leda’s friend Lucas and his delightful parents, who were willing to trek from Easton to join us for some dim sum Jersey-style. We enjoyed dumplings and daikon and chicken feet, the kids checked out the lobster and crab tanks, and we looked forward to the imminent arrival of Lucas’ and Leda’s respective siblings, who will be born in this auspicious Year of the Golden Pig.

Leda kept me company while I shoveled some of today’s snow out of the way…she was ready to hit the road:

Letting Hallmark win
February 14, 2007 on 2:46 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments | Written by JennThough her cynical parents are not big fans of this particular holiday, Leda delighted in preparations for Valentine’s Day. Making cards for her friends, baking and decorating cookies, and choosing a special card for Daddy were all big hits.

And however much I’d like to tell her about martyred Roman saints and pagan holidays and the greeting card industry’s unsavory motives, Leda quickly figured out that today is all about love. She’s even given me a pretty big hint who her #1 Valentine is, and I can’t say that I blame her:

He lets her lick the beaters, after all.
Today we’re snowbound, enjoying the playroom and the rest of the cookies, and missing our favorite tenor/swimming coach/friend/pancake chef/rocket scientist. Mommy’s snowball-making skills are truly second-rate. Leda has prepared a dozen or so new Valentines for his return.
