It has been quite a birthday weekend for Cleo Carver. Grandma and Papa AND Grandma Jeanette were here yesterday to check out the Science Center and the local playground. Grandma and Leda whipped up some cupcakes so we could celebrate properly. And tonight, we had an awesome time celebrating with Ray, Pat & Erica, Gary, Carol, & Gary Mark. Leda was kind enough to open all of Cleo’s presents for her (why such curiously small clothes, Grandma Jane? They could barely fit over Leda’s head!) and make sure the books were age-appropriate. (Bridget scored big-time with The Incredible Book-Eating Boy.)

As you can see, the cupcakes were a hit.

The triteness of how fast this year has gone is such a cliche that I’ve written and deleted the phrase five times already…nonetheless, it’s hard to believe Cleo is already a year old. Harder still to believe that only 40 months ago we were faced with an uncannily similar scene.
