Captain Jack will get you by tonight
Leda and her friend Jack were born two days apart, and have now had three joint birthday parties. For the record, the themes of these parties have been: (1) Winnie the Pooh; (2) Curious George; and most recently (3) Pirates. This year was the first time that the guests of honor were involved in choosing, or at all interested in, the theme. That’s Captain Jack looking a bit coy above with Leda. Jack, you see, is a bit enamored of piracy these days, though he’s not alone:
Jack’s mom is absolutely tremendous at party planning, and she took hold of this pirate thing and ran with it. Exhibit A is the treasure hunt with multiple clues-in-verse that began with this map and some orientation, and ended with buried treasure:
The kids had a fantastic time, reveled in their booty and gobbled up cupcakes. And somehow, our little baby is now a clever and surprisingly strong three year-old who loves singing, reading, and making her baby sister laugh. Happy Birthday, Leda. Many more years to you!
