Madeleines, Berkeley style
Proust, from his cork-lined room, waxed rhapsodic over the taste of a madeleine whose buttery flakiness had the power to transport him into his past. Here at Gliderboy there will be no Proustian descriptions or page-long asides about the social standing of all those present, but suffice to say we felt as if we were back in Berkeley in 1994 once we tasted, from our own NJ oven, the hands-down best pizza ever.

We associate this pizza perhaps most especially with the men (and now, women and children) of 1620 Spruce. Three of same were the purveyors of two Zachary’s pies, which started out half-frozen and made it all the way there in the cargo hold of an eastbound plane. We had a fantastic time with Nick and Yee and thank Sharon (and Jay and Lucy) and Jami (and Hamilton) for sending them east.

We have been remiss in posting photos lately; check out the 29 and 30 month albums to catch up.
Nick:
Great pictures, both here and in the album! zI feel I should point out that the pizza was half-baked, but it definitely started out fully frozen for the trip East
