Letting Hallmark win
Though her cynical parents are not big fans of this particular holiday, Leda delighted in preparations for Valentine’s Day. Making cards for her friends, baking and decorating cookies, and choosing a special card for Daddy were all big hits.

And however much I’d like to tell her about martyred Roman saints and pagan holidays and the greeting card industry’s unsavory motives, Leda quickly figured out that today is all about love. She’s even given me a pretty big hint who her #1 Valentine is, and I can’t say that I blame her:

He lets her lick the beaters, after all.
Today we’re snowbound, enjoying the playroom and the rest of the cookies, and missing our favorite tenor/swimming coach/friend/pancake chef/rocket scientist. Mommy’s snowball-making skills are truly second-rate. Leda has prepared a dozen or so new Valentines for his return.
